Early Years

The curriculum for children in Reception Class is the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This curriculum aims to provide the children with opportunities to extend and initiate their own learning through play. We have a wonderful learning environment where the children are able to play alone or with others. Everyday they have opportunities to construct, paint and draw, ride on bikes and scooters, write, dress up and pretend, use the computers, play in the sand and water, count and a lot more!

There are 7 areas of learning in the Early Years Curriculum (which was revised in 2012)

Of these 7 areas, 3 are Prime areas. These are;

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Physical Development

Communication and Language

Development in these 3 areas is considered fundamental and support  development in the other 4 Specific areas. These are:

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding of the World

Expressive Arts and Design.
